UI/UX Designer
Design Shopify storefronts and the migration experiences behind them, product pages, collection merchandising, checkout flow and the assessment/application tools on our own site.
Ecommerce design has a constraint most design work doesn't: every screen you design has to sell something. As a UI/UX Designer at UVT, you'll design Shopify storefronts for real client launches, with conversion and usability as first-class concerns, not an afterthought layered on after the visuals are done.
What You'll Do
- Design Shopify storefronts: homepage, product and collection pages, and cart and checkout experience, for both migration projects and new builds.
- Work from a client's brand and existing site (when migrating) to a design that's genuinely better, not just a reskin of what Shopify's default theme gives you.
- Design for conversion specifically: product page layout, merchandising logic and checkout friction points. This isn't purely visual design, it's design with a revenue outcome attached.
- Collaborate directly with developers during build, not just hand off a file and disappear. Design decisions get revisited when something doesn't translate cleanly to Liquid/Shopify's constraints, and you're part of that conversation.
- Occasionally design for UVT's own site and tools (like this careers page) alongside client work.
What We're Looking For
- A portfolio with real ecommerce work, or work you can speak to specifically in conversion and usability terms, not just visual polish.
- Comfortable designing within Shopify's actual constraints (section-based themes, Shopify's checkout model) rather than designing something that looks great but can't be built as-is.
- Experience with Figma or an equivalent modern design tool, and enough comfort with developer handoff to avoid "that's not how Liquid sections work" conversations after the fact.
- An eye for the details that actually move conversion, product photography treatment, information hierarchy on a PDP and cart friction, not just overall aesthetic.
Nice to have: direct experience designing for a platform migration (where brand/design elements need to survive a structural change), CRO or A/B testing experience, motion/interaction design skills for Shopify sections.
What We Offer
Remote-first work, and design work that's judged on whether it actually converts, not just whether it looks good in a portfolio. A different, more honest kind of feedback loop than most design roles offer.
How to Apply
Use the form on this page. A portfolio link is the most useful thing you can send, specifically ecommerce work if you have it, even a case study of one project done well.
